Title:
Princess Joanna Stewart, countess of Morton (tomb effigy)
Introduction:

Joanna was one of the six daughters of Joan Beaufort and James I. She married the earl of Morton after returning from Europe. She died after 1486. She is said to have been deaf and dumb; her effigy, in the church of Dalkeith, is said by some to be the earliest known effigy of a deaf person in the world.
